Industry Panel 2: Maximising Mature and Marginal Fields: Unlocking New Value Through Innovation

Tuesday, 31 March
Conference Hall 3, Level 3
Industry Panel

Mature and marginal fields continue to be a vital part of Asia’s upstream energy mix, offering opportunities for value creation in a capital-constrained and carbon-conscious environment. While mature fields can benefit from existing infrastructure and established infrastructure and operations, marginal fields require fit-for-purpose development concepts, disciplined cost structures, and innovative commercial approaches to be economically viable.

This session will explore how operators are unlocking value from both mature and marginal assets through innovation across technology, project execution, and business models. Panellists will share real-world case studies on extending asset life, improving recovery, and optimising economics using approaches such as subsea tiebacks, enhanced recovery techniques, data-driven reservoir management, and simplified development solutions.

From a commercial perspective, the discussion will examine how flexible investment frameworks, phased developments, cost-efficient execution strategies, and collaborative partnerships are enabling successful redevelopment and marginal field monetisation.
